Foundry1

Building the physical-intelligence infrastructure layer for AI

Foundry1 is a venture studio fund built on a single premise: frontier cognition is largely solved, but the physical-integration layer — control, sensing, and regulation — is not. The “brain” of AI now exists; the “nervous system” that lets autonomous systems act reliably in the real world does not.

Creating companies, not chasing deals

Rather than compete to evaluate existing companies, Foundry1 creates new ones at the formation stage, before institutional capital forms a view. Every venture emerges thesis-first from domain research into structural gaps in the physical-AI architecture — with an embedded general partner holding operating authority as a co-founder from day one, and a shared platform (legal, finance, operations, talent, go-to-market, and technical infrastructure) deployed across the portfolio.

Six undercapitalized sectors, one thesis

The focus spans the domains where physical integration is now the bottleneck: edge autonomy and robotics, autonomous vehicles and drones, industrial control systems, energy and grid resilience, defense and mission-critical systems, and continuous-time AI — the mathematical layer bridging transformers and physical dynamics.

Aldo Carrascoso is a Partner at Foundry1, alongside David Riker, Eric Valle, and Erwin Estigarribia — a team assembled not to manage a portfolio, but to build what comes next.
